Bunk Sandwich

I'm in loooooooooooooooooooove with Bunk. I discovered it at work. There are two bunks in town. One is Bunk on Morrison and the other is off of Water Ave. called Bunk Bar. I deliver beer to Bunk Bar and for a month was like I'm gonna have to try this. One day I had some time to kill at work and gave bunk a shot. MMMMMMMMMMM

Changed my life it did. I tried the Pork Belly Cubano. It is a pork sandwich with pickles , pork belly, cheese, crap i dunno what else but it is the best food I have had in Portland so far. The sandwich is 8 bucks . The tuna melt is also good. The cuban reminds me of a sandwich I had at a Cuban food place in the Orange circle in So Cal. The Pork Belly Banh Mi is also worth a try if you ever decide to go.

Bunk: 621 SE Morrison Mon- Sat 8am-3pm
Bunk Bar: 1028 SE Water Ave. E'ry day 3pm-2am

An attempt at Mexican

Some crappy Mexican food in Pioneer Square mall. Was better than Taco Bell at least. But they need more than beef and chicken as a burrito option...

game hen?

So I made this thing like a month ago but completely forgot the recipe. You just get some pictures. The recipe was for duck breast but the whole duck at the grocery store was frozen and 18 bucks. The game hen was frozen and three. Hmmm which thaws faster? I was starving.

Whole game hen ripped apart by my bare hands of course.
Those little cocktail onions
Some vinooo
Bacon. Lots of bacon
Mushrooms whole not sliced
Garlic! I used a whole elephant garlic.
A little flour to thicken the wine sauce.
And I fryed the game hen with vegetable oil I believe

Slackerrrr

Lately all I have been cooking is the same things over and over and over. Usually chorizo tacos with habanero and teriyaki burgers. I don't stray from it now do I. I need to start eating at restaurants and reviewing them! Slackerrrrrrrrr!

I suppose I could show you where I had thanksgiving!

Living in Portland can be a bit lonely at times due to the fact that I barely know anyone! I had the biggest circle of friends on earth in Orange County. I could do anything with anyone anytime. Up here is a little more challenging. So Thanksgiving was going to be especially difficult for me considering I worked the day after (lame!) so driving to my nearest relatives in San Francisco(10 hrs.) was out of the question. I heard a bar was serving food and I tend to o to this bar on Thursdays anyway due to the dollar beer night. Buuuut.

I am thankful for having Les in my life. He is my coworker and he always looks out for me. He invited me to a private thanksgiving dinner at Nepo 42, a bar in North Portland. It had everything a thanksgiving had and I even saw a couple coworkers who also had no family around Portland. It definitely made my first turkey day away from family a little easier to manage.

Line for foood

My plate of heaping goodness.

This man is now family! He calls me son, I call him pops haha
Notice the draft selection? How many have you heard of?

Also!
My favorite blogger has a food giveaway! She also has an amaaazing blog and you should read it. Sometimes it gets me off my lazy ass in search of something to cook. She's far more creative in her cooking, and it's far healthier.

Hawaii

So I took this little week and a half trip to Hawaii with my dad, step mom, and my brother Matt. I've been pretty lonely at times up here in Portland without all of my family and friends. So when my Dad called and asked if I wanted to go to Hawaii to install a beer system at the Hard Rock Cafe, I jumped at the chance. It was amaaazing to see some family again. It gets pretty hard without them all nearby. I need to start using skype!

So I flew into Honolulu and stayed in Waikiki which is on Oahu. The island is just packed full of asian tourists and there is not much to do around there besides go to the beach ( I guess what else do you need.) and maybe snorkel a little bit. It was a lot of fun but the days I wasn't working it was rainy! Just my luck huh?

I didn't take very many food blog pictures because I usually stuck to eating cooked meals in my room or I would go out to eat before hitting bars with Matt and didn't want to bring my camera. Buuuut, one day I took my camera with me when we all decided to go check out the North shore of the island to see big waves. Saw some pretty big ones but nothing like what you would see in a movie. I really preferred the North shore over waikiki.

Where we ate dinner

step moms ensalada was pretty good, but just a normal salad.

I remember lots of meat. I'm a carnivore so I enjoyed it.

I think this was the day I ate breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the beach all in one day. It was my goal in Hawaii.

I've got my toes in the water, ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world, a cold beer in my hand
Life is good today, Life is good today

TOSTA

An Italian beer brewed with Costa Rican cacao. It was gooood. It has 12.5% abv. I don't know much else about it though. Other than I'm sure it's expensive.

Burger

I LOVE making burgers of any kind. This is a combination of one I make in mexico and one I make in California. I pour sriracha onto the ground beef and mix it in and at the end I topped it off with Mr. Yoshida's Marinade and Cooking sauce. It's basically teriyaki. The best kind I have ever had. You can get it from Costco! I usually use pepper jack cheese, it's my favorite on a burger. The Sriracha

Mixing it into the ground beef.
The finished patty cooking in butter.

Mmmmm butter!

Pouring the butter and beef fat onto the top bun.

Pouring the Yoshida sauce onto the burger. Mmmm pepper jack cheese.

And a lovely jar of milk.
